History

Since 2006 we pursued the idea of making F1 hybrid breeding applicable in Potato Breeding. This classical breeding technology is widely used in a large range of crops, over more than 100  years. Only Potato, so far, was not amongst them, very high inbreeding depression was one of the reasons.

The whole industry is convinced that F1 hybrid breeding is the holy grail in Potato Breeding, unlocking the full potential of  the USD70B farmgate value Potato.

In 2009 one of our research project  had a major breakthrough and we reached proof of principle that Solynta’s F1 hybrid breeding was applicable in Potato breeding.
